By now most of you probably know that the band and drummer Joey have parted ways. I reported it on my own Facebook page yesterday.
Slipknot released a statement yesterday: To our Maggots and fans around the world. It is with great pain but quiet respect that, for personal reasons, Joey Jordison and SLIPKNOT are parting ways. We all wish Joey the best in whatever his future holds. We understand that many of you will want to know how and why this has come to be, and we will do our best to respond to these questions in the near future. It is our love for all of you, as well as for the music we create, that spurs us to continue on and move forward with our plans for releasing new material in the next year. We hope that all of you will come to understand this, and we appreciate your continued support while we plan the next phase of the future of SLIPKNOT. Thank you, The ‘KNOT”.
What does this mean for the band and a new album? Your guess is as good as anybody’s at this point. Joey was a big part of the writing process, and he has said he has a ton of songs demoed for Slipknot. With the passing of Paul Gray and Joey, could the end be near for the powerful band. Singer Corey has been mostly dealing with Stone Sour for the last 4 or so years.
Joey has said he did so much writing that his new side project, ”Scar The Martyr“, was born. Could this become Joey’s new full time band? Scar The Martyr did just release self title CD via Roadrunner Records. The CD was written by Joey Jordison with lead vocalist Henry Derek. Joining them in the studio was Keyboardist Chris Vrenna (Nine Inch Nails), Guitarist Jed Simon (Strapping Young Lad), and Guitarist Kris Norris (Darkest Hour).
